Patricia Welch Saleeby, PhD, MSSA

My participation in the Columbia-WHO Center for Global Mental Health International Advisory Board is closely tied to my professional trajectory. I am a social worker and have worked with the World Health Organization classifications for nearly 25 years promoting their use in health and social policy, as well as education, practice, and research across clinical professions. Social workers are essential professionals in the mental health field. I am proud to work in this profession and hope to elevate its recognition through my participation in the Board.

I am passionate about dedicating my philanthropy to global mental health because I view mental health as such an important aspect of everyone’s life. While it affects everyone across the world, how it is addressed differs based on personal and environmental factors. As a Board member, I would like to help make a difference in raising awareness of mental health issues and raising funds to ensure that everyone receives necessary mental health care. Additionally, I hope to broaden the understanding of mental health as it is experienced by various population groups, especially those typically underserved. Outside of the Advisory Board, I enjoy traveling, music, learning about cultures, and culinary experiences.
