Sehwah Sonkarlay is a graduate of the University of Liberia and holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting and public administration. He works as the Executive Director of the Liberia Center for Outcomes Research in Mental Health (LiCORMH) and has over eight years of working experience in non-profit organization management. Over the years, Sehwah has overseen numerous mental health research projects, gaining valuable experience and a deep understanding of Liberia’s mental health service landscape. During the period as the head of LiCORMH, some of the research works he has contributed to include the Co-Authorships of journals published in the Global Health Actions and the Psychiatry Service Journals. Sehwah currently is an admitted Scholar to the Columbia–WHO Center for Global Mental Health Program working to introduce, adapt, validate, and implement the FLII-11 diagnostic toolkit in Liberia.
Sehwah also collaborates with the Government of Liberia through the Ministry of Health along with local and international development partners on projects and interventions that support and enhance mental health service delivery in Liberia. With these established track records, enhanced by certification in Effective Community engagement and Empowerment in Global Health research portfolio and Resource Mobilization knowledge and skills from the Institute of Development Studies, United Kingdom and West Africa Civil Society Institute, Accra, Ghana respectively; he is well positioned to effect change in the mental health workspace of Liberia. Sehwah aspires for a career in public health and global health policy and management.
